Every council has its idiosyncrasies. Our local knowledge can help with development applications — particularly in the eastern suburbs, the inner west and the northern beaches.

Common problems with development applications

The earlier building clients come to us in the development application (DA) process, the more we can help.

One of the most common problems we see is when client submits a development application before getting even preliminary costs. When the building project is costed, the client can’t afford to build what’s been approved.

It’s worth getting a preliminary quote before submitting an application. Submitting revised plans is costly — architects often charge for the extra work in addition, even though it was their plans that blew the budget.

A full costing can be done after the DA is approved by the council.
